What is the impact of Christ in the Christian walk?
We believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for the Body of Christ; they were the same yesterday, today, and forever and can be manifested in the Body of Christ as the Lord sees fit (I Cor 12). The Lord did make one additional manifestation of the Holy Spirit in the New Testament as seen throughout the book of ACTS and other epistles of the New Testament. As the Holy Spirit gives utterance the gift of speaking in other tongues and the interpretation of tongues can be manifested as a sign for unbelievers. (Acts 2:3-4, Acts 10:45-47, Acts 19:5-7, I Corinthians 14:22) We have a very consistent Father – God who wants the best for the Body of Christ and the Fullness of Christ in the body of believers. He gives the gifts of the Holy Spirit for the body and they can be asked for and received at His will. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are sought by the Body of Christ in this House of God, and we are to eagerly desire these greater gifts to empower us in the missions the Lord will set forth for us.
Faith is a very integral part of your relationship with the Lord. Jesus encourages us in the gospels of the New Testament to have faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ and what he is willing to do for us in our lives if we just believe in Him. He also has given us many promises in the Gospel of Good News and has kept them all for those who seek to understand them and believe in them. His promises are eternal, but they do require obedience and faith in Him as our Lord and Savior.
Salvation can be received if we have faith that Jesus Christ (The anointed one and his anointing) is the Messiah, the one and only Son of the Living God. He was the Lamb that was slain (atoning sacrifice) having been crucified on the cross so that our sins could be forgiven. We have the choice to be dead in our sins and transgression or to live having died to our sinful nature and resurrected with Christ. It is by Faith that we believe and are saved by our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 10.
Jesus promised us through his resurrection that he would be with us forever. Jesus also promised us that He would not only be with us, but that he would dwell in us because he has gone to the Father and asked him to send the Holy Spirit to dwell in us, this experience is also referred to as the baptism of the Holy Spirit, or being filled with the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:49, John 14:16-18 &23-24).
The book of ACTS makes it very clear that this experience can happen before or after the water baptism for repentance. It is also supported further in that Jesus tells us that we can ask for the Holy Spirit if we don’t already have the Holy Spirit abiding in us (Luke 11:13). Our Faith in this very special gift of God is the second gift our Father wants to give to us to empower us in our Christian walk with the Lord, it is the gift of the anointing of God which Jesus had. Jesus tells us that we can be empowered to do the same works that he did and that we can do even greater works than he did through his Holy Spirit in us (John 14:11-13).
God is willing to give us these two very precious gifts if we just believe in the Good News of his Son Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ has been given to us by God as the atoning sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins to all who believe, and secondly God is willing to give us the gift of his Holy Spirit to dwell in us. God has designed us in his image (Genesis 1:26-27) and further more has deemed us worthy through the cleansing of sins through his son Jesus Christ to be the temple of the Lord. Jesus has pronounced that the body of believers are the kingdom of God, can you imagine, the kingdom of God is within us (Luke 17:20-22, Ephesians 2:19-22, Hebrews 3:1-6 & 3:18-9, 1 Peter 2:4-10). Amen.
